We’ve been immersed in an era that idealizes open office plans and their organizational analogues, and so you wouldn’t be alone in assuming that the absence of silos offers a more preferable working environment. You might envision the future of your company as one in which everyone collaborates, no one feels boxed in, and growth happens organically.
It makes sense to think that the fewer walls a company has, the better. But when you treat silos with care, they can bring value to your organization, and that fact shouldn’t be overlooked.
