Organizational and Employee Resilience

Organizational and Employee Resilience

What has organizations and employees be resilient? What are the contributing elements? The joint study presented in this report – a partnership between SHRM and Gap International – addresses these questions.

The study used the global COVID pandemic as a basis to examine resilience in both organizations and employees, using data from over 600 senior leaders at the organizational level and over 1,000 full-time employees at the individual level.

Researchers found that organizations demonstrating resilience during the pandemic had distinctive qualities, including high levels of Purpose and Ownership—critical factors for creating alignment. Qualities associated with employee resilience included inclusiveness, connection with others, and leader empathy, among others.
