Integration Performance Indices

The Integration Performance Indices measure the level of agreement or understanding among an organization's leaders around specific outcomes to be delivered. The data are collected by structured interviews of the top leaders in an organization.

The Vertical Integration Performance Index (VIPI)

In high performing organizations there is strong alignment between employees and their supervisors on the specific measurable results to be produced. The VIPI gives a precise measure of the linkage of expected outcomes from the CEO of a company all the way through several leadership and management levels to the workforce.

Specifically, for each employee, the VIPI measures the level of agreement and shared understanding of specific measurable results to be produced in any given period of time for an employee compared to his/her supervisor. It reveals misunderstandings in outcomes to be produced and also highlights areas of the organization where there is any lack of clarity about the contribution of employees to the organizational mission. Ultimately, it measures the power and focus of any organization to produce meaningful results.

The Horizontal Integration Performance Index (HIPI)

In high performing organizations leaders of departments are committed to the success of all departments, not just their own. The HIPI measures the level of agreement and understanding between departments in regards to what each department is responsible for producing in terms of specific measurable outcomes in any specific period of time.

By using the HIPI, departmental leaders learn to work in ways that support and empower other departments and minimize circumscribed actions that unknowingly impact other departments in negative ways. The HIPI reveals disconnects and lack of understanding among departments in any organization, pointing to the need for communication and organizational alignment across departments. The HIPI gives organizational leaders access to a unified, high-performing leadership team.
